CSS SARs by Study Category
This query returns SARs for transported smolts (SAR_TRANS), in-river smolts not detected at LGR, LGS, or LMN (SAR_C0), and in-river smolts detected at one or more of the Snake River collector dams (SAR_C1) for the selected species and migration year range.
Click here for a detailed discussion of this data found in 2011 CSS Annual Report; or click here for a brief metadata listing of the fields included in this query.
Field name Description sourcesite This is where PIT tagged fish were released and/or tagged. If the fish were released from a hatchery, the hatchery code appears in this field (CATH - Catherine Creek Hatchery, DWOR - Dworshak Fish Hatchery, IMNH - Imnaha Acclimation Pond, MCCA - McCall Hatchery, RAPH - Rapid River Hatchery, and AGG = Annual Aggregate). species This is either CH for Chinook, ST for steelhead or SK for sockeye. rearcode Rear code includes H for hatchery or W for wild. racecode Race code includes SP for spring, SU for summer, FA for Fall, and WI for winter. migryear Migration year is the year the smolt migrated to the ocean. sar_trans Smolt-to-adult survival estimate for transported smolts. sar_trans_cill 90% lower limit bootstrap confidence interval for sar_trans. sar_trans_ciul 90% upper limit bootstrap confidence interval for sar_trans. sar_c0 Smolt-to-adult suvival estimate for in-river smolts NOT detected at LGR, LGS, or LMN. sarc0_cill 90% lower limit bootstrap confidence interval for sarc0. sarc0_ciul 90% upper limit bootstrap confidence interval for sarc0. sar_c1 Smolt-to-adult suvival estimate for in-river smolts detected at LGR, LGS, or LMN. sarc1_cill 90% lower limit bootstrap confidence interval for sarc1. sarc1_ciul 90% upper limit bootstrap confidence interval for sarc1.
NOTES:
- The SAR formulas for Snake River groups during migration years both with and without pre-assignment are covered in Chapter 4 of the CSS 2010 Annual Report. Snake River wild and hatchery Chinook and wild steelhead were not pre-assigned before 2005 and were pre-assigned thereafter. Snake River hatchery steelhead through 2007 were not per-assigned and were pre-assigned thereafter.
- When sarC0 field is blank, it is assumed to equal sarC1 (as occurs in 2001).
- When sarC1 field is blank, one in-river SAR was estimated from the combined in-river groups because of small sample sizes. This was calculated as (C0 + C1 adults) / (C0 + C1 smolts).
