John Day and Bonneville Smolt Monitoring

The following is a diagram of the old sampling facility at Bonneville Dams second powerhouse. The structure that diverted fish to this system was removed in 1999 to accommodate the new bypass system at the second powerhouse. Detailed diagrams of the previous PIT tag and sample collection system from the bypass channel downstream are also available (Top View) (Lower level). After the fish cross the inclined floor screen in the bypass channel, the juveniles were separated from the adults as they crossed parallel bars. The juveniles then passed through PIT tag detectors and either traveled through a transport pipe to the sampling facility or were bypassed back to the downwell.
