John Day and Bonneville Smolt Monitoring

Sampling effort at Bonneville Dams first powerhouse is conducted in the bypass channel just prior to the water entering the downwell. Samples are collected by lowering a wedge wire screen into the bypass channel at the end of the inclined screen which diverts fish into the sampling tank. The sampling tank is then hoisted out of the channel and the fish and water are drained into sample holding tank. The fish are then processed in the sorting trough.
